Sarah Latham was born and educated in Redcar. She began violin lessons at school at the age of nine, courtesy of Teesside Education Authority’s free tuition system, playing in county orchestras throughout primary and secondary school.

Studies in London at Trinity College of Music and the National Centre for Orchestral Studies, Goldsmiths College gave her the opportunity to play in orchestras under the baton of such inspirational conductors  as Norman del Mar, Roger Norrington,  Vernon Handley and  Richard Hickox.

She worked for orchestras in Finland before returning to England to begin a new career as a primary classroom teacher and peripatetic instrumental tutor for schools and music authorities in Redbridge, Kent and Berkshire.

Sarah moved to Rutland in 2004. She teaches at Stamford Endowed Schools. She has been the leader of the Rutland Sinfonia since 2011 and also plays for the Stamford Chamber Orchestra.
